Why Fit And Healthy

Generation Kenya

NCD WELLNESS MEDICAL NGO

Non-communicable Diseases(NCDs) are diseases that cannot be transmitted from one person to another. They are of long duration and slow in progression. NCDs are collectively responsible for over 70% of all deaths globally each year. Of these, 75% of occur in low and middle income countries. The rise of NCDs has been driven by primarily 4 major risk factors; unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, tobacco use and harmful use of alcohol. High rates of NCDs perpetuate poverty, strain economic development and burden fragile health systems, making countries less resilient. The prevention and control of these diseases is therefore a major development imperative for the 21st century. Tackling NCDs is vital in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals( SGDs) by 2030.Kenya National Strategic plan 2021/22-2025/26 aims at reducing by third the premature mortality due to NCDS by 2025, NPS was informed by the need to strengthen multi sectoral response to the increasing NCD burden.
